Write On (A Month of Letter Writing)

So next month is marks National Stationery Week (25th April -1st May) in the UK as well as World Stationery Day on 27th April. It also seems to be the National Letter Writing month in the US mainly observed with the Write On campaign. I don't know if anything similar here in the UK but I know there's been International Correspondence Writing Month InCoWriMo but don't think much happened with that this year.  *sigh* There is also Lettermo which is in February which I have done before.

But regardless I thought it might be nice to take part even if it's not in direct conjunction with anything. But as a stationeryholic and keen letter writer it's an good excuse to get writing. I have been managing to write more for myself as mentioned before. But need to make a better effort with correspondence I thought this might be a good way for me to catch up on letters owed, renew some old acquaintances and possible make some new ones. Not to mention just putting pen to paper again I am in the way that haven't done in a long while. I mean who doesn't love a good excuse to get some new stationery and get writing?

I think I roughly know most of the people that I'm going to write to but I have left space for some extras. I always say I'm not looking for penpals I have reached out to a few people which hasn't worked out. Which is a shame and it makes me wary of taking on any new pen pals. I believe there's always the right there's always enough room for the right person.

I will say for now for the one off later I've got about five days or spaces so if anyone wants to receive a letter from me they can leave a comment here or on my Instagram post. Just explain why you like to write and or why you would like to receive a letter. It may not be a letter it could be a card or a postcard but it will definitely something handwritten or from my typewriter, something analog and personal from one person to another.

Outgoing & Incoming [September]

As previously mentioned I've slowed down with my letter writing. Unfortunately the same can't be said for my stationery buying (>_<). Ho hum, but sending and receiving mail has been so rare this month I've decided to combine my monthly Incoming and Outgoing posts. I imagine October will be the same but I do want to clear some of the backlog before November so there may be more outgoing next month.

I seriously can't believe how little I sent out this month. I actually have a strange sense of achievement. Simple because I always wrote, even when I didn't want to, maybe because it would pile up and I felt I had to keep going or else be overwhelmed. But with my recent cull and just being busier this has been avoided. The few letters I received were great as usual. Oh I included a few postcard and stamps that I bought this month and sent out. I will try to do a stationery post again. Hopefully I will get to using my new supplies soon!

Incoming [August]

I am so grateful! Seriously it's all so lovely, surprise mail, pay it forward mail and mail mail. As well as more Gotochi postcards from folks who went away during Obon! Yippee! These are the only letters I have left to reply to then I'm all clear. I will be asking recipients to take their time responding as I would like a breather. Anything after these will have to wait not unless I feel strongly compelled to write, which be great if I do.

I have been stupidly busy that I have not taken pictures of everything. I will try and update this at a later date. Some of these are not even uploaded to Instagram, so many letters so little time *sigh*. But I think that this is a good thing, I really want to be doing more writing less. Oh I've also been buying less stationery, which is most definitely GOOD! I do seeing myself letter writing less in the next few months and actually don't feel sad/bad about it.

Incoming [July]

Lots of happy mail days this month, none of these have been replied to yet and I seriously can't wait. This month included some surprise mail in particular from Shelby who I know through IG. Her letter was full on quotes and inspiration it was so lovely and thoughtful. I definitely believe in creative karma. In all seriousness July has been a happy mail month and I feel very lucky and inspired.

I am blown away by some of this month's mail, you shouldn't have favourite but I do. Not for the contents of the envelopes but for the letters themselves. The mail art and extra things are great and a few of my pen pals share similar taste but its great to get letters from people who you can relate to and write to with ease. I trying to hold from writing to quickly so as no to add pressure on other party. At the same time taking my time to put in that extra effort is good. Looking forward as always to working on my replies!
